UC Irvine's student-driven STMS initiative is pioneering the Variable Emissivity Device (VED) to master satellite temperature regulation. This unique device, destined for a 2U Cube Satellite in a sun-synchronous orbit, can adjust its heat absorption and emission. The Space team combines advanced simulations with hands-on experiments to optimize this technology, promising enhanced satellite reliability and a leap in spacecraft thermal management.
